After some testing with a few videos, the site is now accepting video content.
We believe this is particularly relevant and useful, particularly in the training area. This will really help people get a grasp of the different aspects of Joomla, but we want to stick to the 1.5 version for this content.
All you need to do is to paste the embed code into the html section of the editor and it works fine. Center the video for better viewing and then please place the source of the video underneath it, i.e., a link back to the contributors site. Please set this link to open in a new window as all off site links on this site do.
If you aren't sure about anything, please don't hesitate to contact me via the contact page, but let's get those videos rolling. They are a great way of "showing" new users how to do things in a clear and simple manner. |

Joomla! E-Commerce with VirtueMart is a new book from Packt that helps users to build their own Joomla VirtueMart e-commerce web site with Joomla! 1.0/1.5 and VirtueMart 1.1.x. Written by Suhreed Sarkar, this book guides users through installing and configuring a VirtueMart store using the Joomla CMS platform.
Readers will learn to configure their stores with the most essential shop functionalities such as creating and using the appropriate zones and currencies, configure payment methods, shipping methods, and taxes. In addition to this, users will be able to manage manufacturers, vendors, products, and product categories.
Developers will be able to customize the appearance of the website by installing and configuring VirtueMart themes, managing products, orders, and using search engine friendly (SEF) URLs, thus helping them in attracting customers to their store. Along with this, they will be shown how to build a wide customer base by learning about VirtueMart’s promotional tools such as banner ads, featured products, newsletters, coupons, etc.
By using region-specific taxes, multiple currencies, installing new languages, and translating the language of the site, users will be able to add further value to their store. To broaden VirtueMart functions for bulk import/export of products to the shop catalogue, users will learn to add third-party extensions to their website. They will be able to spice up their shop by updating multiple product information on the shops website, and displaying slideshows with product images at the same time.
Along with installing, setting up and customizing a brand new VirtueMart store, developers will learn to secure, maintain and troubleshoot it by backing up and restoring files and databases of the store to the server.
Joomla! users interested in building an e-commerce store will find this book useful. This book is out now and is available from Packt. For more information, please visit: http://www.packtpub.com/joomla-e-commerce-with-virtuemart-1-1-x/book |

The 22nd revision of RSForm! Pro brings a new feature: generating XHTML compliant tableless layouts.
The new layout is called "Inline (XHTML)" and uses a series of list items to define the components, instead of table rows, like the "Inline" layout does. The layout has been tested with Joomla!'s Milkyway and Purity templates, both of which have passed the XHTML 1.0 Transitional specifications.
You can now use a WYSIWYG editor instead of a textarea, allowing form submitters to style their submissions.CAPTCHA image and font size can be customized. The default size is now"15" and you can increase it as much as you want.
When adding a form to the menu you will no longer have to type in the form's ID - you will be presented with a list of all your forms and you can choose the form you want to be displayed.
Various SQL and PHP code has been rewritten, so you may feel a slight increase in performance when handling big forms (100+ components) . |

I love Joomla and if you are visiting this site, then no doubt you do too. The worlds greatest content management system holds that reputation because of its versatility, user base and the open source community behind it.
So why Joomla Articles?
Joomla Articles is a site where you, the users, can share your experiences with Joomla. It doesn't matter if you are a web developer, an extension writer or a complete techie nerd. If you've got something to say about Joomla, then someone will want to hear about it. In particular, I find that detailed and instructional reviews of the enormous range of Joomla extensions are really useful.
How To Contribute
Simply register for an account and upon confirmation you will receive access to the site so you can submit articles. Make sure you read the submission guidelines and Terms of Service. Proven authors will be upgraded to Publisher status and I know it won't be long before many of you will be granted that privilege. All the people I have met in the Joomla Community have been fantastic to deal, enjoy sharing their knowledge and have high principles and ethics in respect of their dealings online.
The 1.5 Experience
Since Version 1.5 was released, there has been a slow progression of extension upgrades happening. Of course, there are also a lot of new ones being released for the native version of 1.5. Let us know of your experiences. Let us know of new extensions and how you've deployed them on your site.
Join now and start submitting your articles. The world would love to hear of your experiences with Joomla! |
